From Robert Fludd's 1626 Philosophia Sacra, these prints (date unknown - I bought a sheaf of them, loose, in a market in Bombay and had them framed in the US) are an Alchemical tour-de-force. I am not a scholar of the hermetic philosophy required to decode these densely hieroglyphic images; each contains a vocabulary of signs and images steeped in myth and allegory requiring a life-time's scholarship. I do know - being the light-headed designer that I am - that they are stunning and intriguing enough to draw the viewer to the wall and, in many cases, into a line of study never anticipated and cumbersome to launch into at parties. 12 prints, all different, all matted and framed. Great as a group, hold their own individually as well.
